Privacy Policy
How we look after your personal data, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.
Last updated: 02/06/2026
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Proper Mods Ltd, which trades as TJ Mods ("we", "us", "our"). We are a car modification studio based at 225 Green Lane, Ilford, London IG1 1XR, United Kingdom.
For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, Proper Mods Ltd is the data controller responsible for your personal data. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, you can contact us using the details in the Contact us section below.
2. The personal data we collect
We are a small studio and we keep data collection to a minimum. The personal data we handle is limited to the details you choose to share with us when you get in touch to make an enquiry or book a service. This may include:
- your name;
- your contact details (telephone number, email address or WhatsApp number);
- details about your vehicle (such as make, model and the work you are interested in); and
- any other information you include in your message to us.
We do not ask for, and we ask that you do not send us, special category data (such as health information) or payment card details by email or messaging app.
3. How this website works (no backend)
This is a static brochure website. It has no backend, database or server-side processing of its own. The enquiry form on this site does not transmit or store your details on the website. Instead, when you complete the form it composes a message and opens it in your own email application or WhatsApp, ready for you to review and send to us. Nothing is submitted until you choose to send that message yourself.
This means that any personal data you provide reaches us only through ordinary channels you control - your email provider, your phone, or WhatsApp - and we receive it in the same way as any other enquiry sent to our published phone number or email address.
4. How we use your data, and our lawful bases
We use the information you give us to respond to your enquiry, provide a quotation, arrange and carry out the services you ask for, and keep in touch with you about your booking. Under UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Consent - when you contact us voluntarily by phone, email, WhatsApp or the on-site form, you consent to us using your details to reply. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests - to respond to enquiries, run our studio and communicate with people who contact us, in a way you would reasonably expect and that does not override your rights.
- Performance of a contract - where you go on to book a service, to take the steps necessary to provide that service to you.
5. Third parties
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for marketing. A small number of third-party services support this website:
- Google Maps - we embed a Google map so you can find our Ilford studio. When the map loads, Google may set cookies and process limited technical data such as your IP address, in line with Google's privacy policy.
- Web hosting - our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses and timestamps) for security and to keep the site running reliably.
- Analytics - we may use privacy-respecting website analytics, but only where you have given your consent. You can read more in our Cookie Policy.
6. How long we keep your data
Because the website does not store enquiries, retention applies only to the messages you send us directly. We keep enquiry correspondence for no longer than is necessary - typically while we are dealing with your enquiry or booking, and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle any follow-up, aftercare or our legal and accounting obligations. After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.
7. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- the right to be informed about how your data is used;
- the right of access to the personal data we hold about you;
- the right to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- the right to erasure (the "right to be forgotten");
- the right to restrict processing;
- the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- the right to data portability; and
- where processing is based on consent, the right to withdraw that consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. If you are concerned about how we have handled your data, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk. We would, however, appreciate the chance to put things right first.
8. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. This website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. Please remember that no method of transmission over the internet - including email and messaging apps - is completely secure, so any information you send is at your own risk until it reaches us.
9. Children
Our services and this website are intended for adults and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Please check back periodically.
